Handling data in all phases of research
Background and rationale
Data stewardship involves activities to ensure that digital research data are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) in the long term. Data stewardship includes data creation, archiving and reuse by third parties. For good data stewardship, you need responsible planning and executing of all actions on digital data before, during and after a research project, with the aim of optimizing the usability, reusability and reproducibility of the resulting data. Science funders, publishers and governmental agencies are requiring data management plans and FAIR data in publicly funded studies. Also, a data management plan (DMP) is required for all studies in LUMC.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the e-learning Data Stewardship participants will be able to:
Program
This course includes a 3–4 hour e-learning module with interactive elements. You can pause the e-learning at any time and resume later.
Data stewardship e-learning
The goal of this e-learning is to provide foundational knowledge on data stewardship, covering all phases of the data life cycle and the requirements for creating FAIR research data. This ensures research can be replicated and data can be reused. You need this knowledge before you can write a DMP.
